Paphos Excavation 1966-1971
Fieldwork:
Continuing from A.H.S. Megaw's 1957-59 campaign for Cyprus Antiquity Department, the British School at Athens conducted four seasons of excavation at the Medieval castle site of Saranda Kolones site at Paphos. The aim was to determine the date and architecture of the structure. It is considered to be one of the first examples of a Crusader concentric castle and to determine if this was of Byzantine influence. Not substantial Byzantine material was found
Active from 1966 to 1970.
