In the latter decades of the nineteenth century and into the first decade of the twentieth, David G. Hogarth travelled extensively in Asia Minor, often with other scholars. He also toured the monument of Lycia in 1897 and cruised along the coast of Asia Minor and onto Libyia in 1904.
