Upper Euphrates 1894
This journey was conducted by D.G. Hogarth in the spring and summer of 1894 in the company of V.W. Yorke, John Scott (the Vicount Encombe) and cartographer F.W. Green. A brief account of it is recorded (in part from Divirk to Trabzon) in Yorke's 1895 paper to the Geographical Society (published 1896) and (from Antib to Trabzon) in Hogarth's 1896 book, A Wandering Scholar in the Levant, which contains a fold out map detailing the route taken. The main purpose was to trace ancient routes, particularly Roman, along the upper Euphrates that linked the South to the North shores of the Black Sea at Trabzon.
Active in 1894.
