Megalopolis Excavation 1890-1893: Season 1893
Excavation: Research excavation
During 1893, the last season of excavation at Megalopolis by the British School at Athens, a number of exploratory trenches were laid on the north bank of the river, to the west of the Agora, and on a site where an inscribed tile had found in by Mr. Loring as the temenos of the Great Goddesses. Though there were some promising indications, not much of importance was found, except a stoa which was built in late times, partly of older materials. However, the main work done this season was the clearance of the Thersilion, bringing the excavations to a conclusion.
Active from 16/03/1893 to 24/04/1893.
