Kyparissia Excavation 1893
Evaluation: Trials
A.G. Bather and V.W. Yorke conducted test excavations at two sites near Kyparissia in Arcadia that were thought to be ancient Basilis and Bathos. At one site they uncovered a number of terracotta figurines and a number of bronze items dating to the 4th century, but found no traces of a temple; at the other they found a few pilasters and a carved moulding, possibly dating to the 6th century BC, but objects from the 5th century were also found (red figure ware, bronze bowl).
Active in May 1893.
