Keros-Naxos Seaways Project Excavations 2016-2018
The goal of this project’s excavations was to further our understanding of Early Bronze Age settlement hierarchy from Keros to Naxos and Kato Kouphonisi and to investigate the nature of the Early Bronze Age settlements on Keros and Dhaskalio. Trenches were used in the Keros excavations. (These revealed evidence for metallurgical activities. Adding to the previous Keros-Naxos Seaways projects, a greater prospect of an advancement in understanding the regional dynamics in the mid-third millennium BC Cyclades, and the founding and development of a regional centre of congregation and proto-urban settlement of fundamental importance for the understanding of the prehistory of the central Aegean, is what was achieved in these projects.
Active from 2016 to 2018.
