The Pavlopetri Underwater Archaeological Project Geophysical Survey
The overall aim of the project was to outline the history and development of the submerged prehistoric town at Pavlopetri. Both a shore-based robotic total station and Sector Scan Sonar were used for this. As well as the buildings already known from the 1968 excavation, over 9,000 square metres of new buildings were discovered to the north. A new stereo-photogrammetric system of underwater mapping was tested alongside continued digital survey of the structural remains using a shore based Total Station, and more extensive use of the KongsbergMesotech MS 1000 Sector Scan Sonar. In 2010 priority was given to recording areas containing structures of the highest archaeological importance.
Active from 2009 to 2010.
