Antissa Excavation 1931-1932: Season 1932
Excavation: Research excavation
This season's work at Antissa continued with another trench in the promontory to supplement the previous season's work. Similar levels of material were found: Byzantine and medieval then Hellenistic over Archaic and earlier material. An apsidial structure was discovered with seventh-century pottery. A polygonal masonry wall found on the Acropolis last season was cleared. On the south hill of the acropolis numerous graves were investigated, a number of the graves were practically empty. However, a number of small vases was recovered along with an eighth-century kantharos and proto-Corinthian arabyllos were recovered.
Active in 1932.
