Pontus Greek Dialects 1914
R.M. Dawkins, former Director of the British School at Athens, travelled to the Pontus region to study Modern Greek dialects. This was an extension of his study of Greek dialects in Central Anatolia (1908-1910) was published in 1916. In this 1916 book on Greek Dialects, Dawkins mentions his preliminary foray into the Pontus region to collect material on the Greek dialect. His initial findings were incorporated into the text of that book. However, with the outbreak of WWI, he was prevented from returning to the district before the exchange of population in 1923.
