Datcha Penninsula 1911
Assessment and Analysis: Landscape survey
In 1911 Dawkins went to investigate the Datcha penninsula and the site of Knidos with a view to future excavation by the British School at Athens. This was never realised as reported in the Annual Meeting of Subscribers and in Macmillan's history of the British School at Athens, both published in vol. 17 (1910-1911) of the Annual of the British School at Athens. The failure to excavate was due to the outbreak of the First Balkan War in 1912. During this visit, Dawkins and Halliday also visited Ephesus and the neighbouring islands of Patmos, Kos and possibly Kalymnos.
Active in 1911.
