Topographic Survey of Arcadia-Laconia 1892-1893
Survey: Field survey
In conjunction with the BSA's excavation work at Megalopolis in Arcadia, W. Loring conducted a topographical survey of the Arcadian-Laconian area with particular attention to ancient routes. Routes from Tegea to Megalopolis, Sparta to Megalopolis, Sparta to Tegea delineated the boundaries of the survey. Ancient sources were consulted and actual remains were noted and mapped. Loring updated and corrected a number of inaccuracies from the map produced in 1832 by the French Expédition Scientifique de Morée.
Active from 1892 to 1893.
