Myrtos Fournou Korifi Excavation 1967-1968
Fieldwork:
In 1967, P. Warren conducted a first campaign of excavations at Fournou Korifi, on the coast between Ierapetra and Myrtos where an EM hill settlment had been observed in 1962. Much of the summit of the hill was cleared, revealing an EM building of approximately 40 small rooms. Storage and wrokshop areas were identified connected to a potential textile industry. Debris deposits of vases and areas of plaster were discovered. The excavation of the whole settlement (about 1250 square metres) was completed in 1968. Many more small rooms were discovered during the last season, as well as the southern and western entrances. A potter's workshop and a shrine were also excavated
Active from 1967 to 1968.
